Getting Trail Cameras Ready – At the Ranch Series
You may not think there’s a lot that goes into prepping trail cams, but there is more to it than you think. When it comes to getting trail cameras ready for use, you want to make sure everything is set up properly.
I like to go through all of my cameras and make sure I’ve got fresh batteries; the date & time is set up correctly and SD cards that are going to be going in the cameras are formatted. Depending on what kind of camera you have, you may be able to format your SD card within the camera, if you can’t, you can do it on your computer.

When it comes to batteries, I strongly recommend using lithium batteries as they will last much longer and won’t leak any battery fluid into your battery port on your trail camera. Make sure you go through these steps when prepping for use because the worst thing when it comes to trail cameras is to put one up and return to check it with it not working. Don’t make that mistake!
