At the Ranch – Turkey: Soft Calling Tips

Knowing how to soft call to turkeys can be very important. Soft calling is a great tactic to put to use right away in the morning to try and replicate a hen waking up off the roost. You don’t want to jump right into calling as loud as you can right away in the morning. Another time soft calling can be great to use is if you think a bird is heading in to your setup, continually lower the volume of your calling to replicate a hen moving away from him. It could cause that tom to come at you quicker. Lastly, if you ever believe a bird could be close and you’re just starting to call, don’t jump into it with loud calling. Start soft to see if you get a response nearby.
