At the Ranch – Whitetail: Buck Behavior During October

Buck Behavior During October:

Understanding buck behavior during October will surely improve your hunt! During the beginning of October, bucks are on a food to bed pattern. They prefer green food sources and haven’t full shifted to their fall behavior yet.

In the middle two weeks of October, bucks spend less time on their feet during daylight, and transition to other food sources such as hard mast which can be found in the timber closer to where they bed.

During the last week of October, their behavior ramps up, leading to more daylight movement. The rut is near and testosterone increases.
