At the Ranch – Whitetail: Treestand Locations

Where should you be placing your treestands? In order to place your treestand in the proper location, a couple of things need to go into effect. First, you need to do some scouting, and second, you need to utilize trail cameras.

Ideally, you want to do most of your scouting in the spring because this allows you to see signs from the previous fall.

Trail cameras can be run during the summer to help you determine what’s in the area & ultimately, where you will want your treestand.

Wind is a major factor to consider when placing the treestand. Understand and learn how to use wind in your favor. The wind should be blowing towards you, not away from you. In other words, the deer should be coming upwind from you, not downwind.
