In this video, Eric Lewis explores the fundamentals of gun safety. There have been a lot of first-time gun buyers this year and you can never be safe enough when handling your firearms. It is imperative to have a good foundation on gun safety fundamentals.
- Make sure your gun is clear. Always handle a gun as if it is loaded and double-check that the chamber is clear. You can trust but verify.
- Never point the firearm at something you do not intend to destroy. Do not point the gun at something that you are not willing to shoot. This is imperative with gun safety.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until you have acquired the target in your sites. If you keep your finger off the trigger, the gun will not go off.
- The last rule for gun safety is always know your target and what is behind it. Bullets travel quickly, and a lot of them will penetrate that target and keep ongoing. When you are practicing, have a tall built-up area like a bale of hay, this will stop the bullet, so anything down range is not at risk for being hit.
These are the 4 foundational gun safety rules to take to heart when shooting your firearms.
