In this episode of At the Range, Eric Lewis discusses different sights and firearms for home defense. You have a couple different options for close range firearms.
First off is the Beretta 1301 Tactical Semi-Automatic Shotgun. This firearm has a shorter barrel making it perfect for close quarters scenarios, like home defense. The great thing about shotguns is that you don’t have to worry about bullet penetration through the walls.

The 1301 ships with picatinny rails on it so you can add a sight if you’d like but it already has the iron sights, which are great for most scenarios. However, if you need a firearm for a home defense scenario, it’s most likely going to be in the middle of the night in a dark and low light situation and it can sometimes be harder to get a good target acquisition with the iron sight.
A few popular options out there for sights include your holographic and your red dot sights. These particular products are similar but also have some key differences that can alter their use.
