A couple in Northern Minnesota noticed water levels at the pond behind their home steadily rising over a period of seven years, due to the diligent construction of a beaver dam nearly nine feet in length near a spillway. The beavers steadily added to the damn over the years, causing the overall pond to rise almost a foot and half. Unfortunately, all the beavers hard work literally fell to pieces as their dam collapsed, sending tons of water back down into a lower-lying area. While the initial devastation looked very grim, revealing the lake bed in much of the area behind the dam, this story has a happy ending. 6 months later, the beavers rebuilt the dam, to a smaller and less vulnerable 4 feet in length.
