Bowhunter’s whistle stops huge bull dead in his sights

While resting on some rocks early in their hunt in the hills of Montana, two bowhunters and the Hunting Unlimited camera crew heard an elk bull bugle nearby and decided they’d better investigate. They put out a few calls and heard a couple of cows call back. Once they tracked down the cows, the bull bugled again, just 50 or so yards out. When the bull finally walked into view, the lead hunter found himself with an amazing sight line, and whistled to the elk to ensure it would stop. His bet paid off, and the elk stood still in just the right spot for him to take an elegant, clean shot. The bull ran about forty yards out, but still remained in sight, where it laid down until nightfall, when it could no longer fight.
