When you’re out of food and desperate to survive, find the nearest pine tree

Pines are some of the most recognizable and resilient trees in the wilderness. Big, strong, and surprisingly, full of nutritional value. If you’re in a pinch and need food to survive, the pine has got your back. Its needles can be steeped in boiling water for a hearty tea, or used to make a skin scrub. Pinecones are the source of high-protein pine nuts, and the inner layer of the tree’s bark, the white smooth layer, can actually be eaten raw, straight from the tree. It actually has a sweet taste to it, too.
