“Foxhunt” pits one rider against 400 in grueling 3.5 mile downhill mountain bike race

Harking back to the gentlemanly days of good old fashioned foxhunts, Red Bull’s 6th Annual “Foxhunt” downhill race is a unique competition pitting 400 red-shirted “hounds” against a single “fox”, all barreling down Rostrevor’s Mountain in Ireland. The 3.5-mile downhill course features plenty of treacherous obstacles and even more opportunities for the amateur mountain bikers in red to accidentally wipe one another out of the race, or hopefully, overtake the professional rider playing the fox, an honor given to two-time downhill champion Gee Atherton in this year’s event. What ensues is the most carnage-laden mountain bike race you’ve likely ever seen.
