Grasshoppers don’t look appetizing, but they’re the perfect snack when you’re roughing it

Grasshoppers won’t win many taste tests but if you’re surviving in the wilderness or just roughing it for awhile, you know that every little bit helps. Two full size grasshoppers pack about as much protein as a single portion of ground beef, and they’re simple to make. Just pluck off the back legs, head, and thorax, sort of like a crawfish, clean out any remaining innards, and put stick through them over an open fire. Before long, you’ll be crunching on fire roasted grasshoppers.
