How to use ferrets to hunt rabbits

In most places around the world rabbits are fairly well tolerated. In the UK however, they’re an enormous agricultural pest. This family is using an age old method to capture and remove the pests. They have their own trained ferrets that know to hunt the rabbits inside their own tunnels. Home made nets are placed over each tunnel entrance and as the rabbits are chased out they become entangled in the nets.

In a way this is hunting in its most natural way. It’s completely green, uses animals so it encourages training and care, and even the nets are home made. It’s also a fun activity for the children as they learn about respectful hunting practices and where their food comes from. It also allows for very humane kills as the rabbits can be used as food for themselves, their dogs and their ferrets.
