Shawn Woods is known for his primitive bowhunting skills, but he was recently granted the opportunity to hunt a rare subspecies of deer using an original Civil War era P53 Enfield Rifled Musket. With a blackpowder filled paper ‘cartridge’ and a .58 cal lead ball crafted by his own hand, Shawn goes in search of a rare Columbian Whitetail. The rifle is well over 150 years old and was used during the civil war. The Columbian Whitetail deer are located in small pockets of Oregon and their population has been slowly decreasing until they were placed on the endangered species list in 1973. Through conservation practices, the population bounced back and was taken off the endangered list by 1995.
