Outdoor Life’s Senior Editor Natalie Krebs took a trip to Nebraska’s Sandhills to try and tag herself a good mule deer since both she and her hunting partner, Kali Parmley, live in whitetail country. When Natalie joined Kali in the tall grass around noon, Kali was waiting for a mule buck and doe to make their way over their friend’s property line so that their hunt was legally taking place on land they had permission to use. After laying there patiently for hours, a doe in heat leaped over the small fence, and the buck soon followed. From there, it was just a matter of lining up her shot and taking it.
