Robert Field posted this video to his YouTube channel of his first real shark catch from a kayak. He offers an explanation, “…after spending 5 minutes trying to remove the hook with pliers and being unable to get it out, I cut the line so that i didn’t keep the fish out of the water any longer. I felt that if I kept trying, the shark would suffocate and die.”
It’s never a good idea to leave a hook in a shark, but people do it. Some folks think it’s not a problem, and some folks think it’s a big deal. He probably wasn’t thinking about that though when his kayak rolled and he had to swim in the same water as the sharks trying to get back in.
That’s when somebody called the coast guard…
