Kimber K6s DCR 357 Magnum Revolver Sootch00 Review

The Kimber K6s DCR in .357 Magnum with a 2″ Barrel. While the craftsmanship is excellent, the Trigger is the best I’ve ever experienced with a Double Action Revolver. Thanks to Kimber America for making this possible.

Kimber was founded in 1979 and for over the past 40 years they have been producing really fine, high-quality firearms. Kimber is mainly known for their 1911s, which are absolutely beautiful. The fit and the finish is just exceptional. When they introduced the revolvers, I was really excited to see what they had come up with. Today we’re going to be taking a look at the Kimber K6s, and this is the DCR – for Deluxe Carry Model.

This is a beautiful firearm and it’s made in .357 Magnum so you have a lot of flexibility between .38 and .356. Honestly, I have not been disappointed and we really appreciate Kimber for sending the K6s DCR for this test and evaluation.

I have to say that this is probably one of the most beautiful revolvers that I’ve seen and it really is just a work of art. This was expected from Kimber to be honest as they’re always really good about doing incredible fine detailed finishes on their firearms.

The Kimber K6s is a double action only revolver, and that means the hammer is enclosed in the shroud. So, when you pull the trigger, you’d have to just pull it as there’s no hammer. We’re going to take a look at some other options, but we’re going to focus on the Kimber because it’s honestly in a class all by itself. There are some small things that make a big difference.

Now this shoots .38 special, and .357. With the .357 Magnum you’re going to get a lot more velocity and more power. With the .38, it is just a great round and there are a lot of self defense options that can increase it but you’re still not going to match the .357 Magnum. Between the .38 and the .357, either one are excellent choices making this a very flexible option. One thing about a semi automatic is you have to be careful when you’re shooting lighter loads, you may have a single shot. With a revolver because that cylinder rotates, you don’t have to worry as much about the reliability with weaker loads, or whether you go with stronger loads.

The big thing about this revolver is just the finish. Number one, it’s been dehorned and all the sharp edges have been removed. This makes it excellent for concealed carry as you don’t have to worry about it snagging and it prints less because your clothes seem to just fold over. Also, it’s been blended so all of the edges have just been smoothly blended down. I’ll tell you guys, the beauty of this thing is just incredibly – but we’re gonna look at some details that really set this one apart.

The Kimber K6s has an all stainless steel frame, barrel cylinder, so it’s gonna have a little bit of heft to it but it still comes in about 23 ounces making it a fairly lightweight option. One of the things about having an aluminum frame is that you’re going to have more felt recoil, and that’s one of the big things about a full stainless solid steel pistol.
