While on location in Indonesia, filming deadly reptiles in the wild for the BBC’s second entry into its Planet Earth series, cameraman Mark MacEwen discovered one of the beasts he had just captured on video had holed itself up in his bathroom. Not wanting to risk his own injury or worse at the jaws of the komodo dragon (whose venomous bite can cause sepsis and much, much worse), the crew got one of the handlers on site to try and extract the creature from the small room. Using a piece of rotten meat and some rope, they were able to coax the dragon out of the bathroom, and eventually the room itself, but not before the beast left a little “gift” for the crew.
