When it comes to the population that shoots handguns, people are vastly different. They have different reasons for shooting and owning guns. We have some who are tactically minded and others that only shoot recreationally. There are competitive shooters and others who simply just collect different firearms. And, of course, there are those who just own guns for personal protection. What is quite common among all is everyone has an opinion. Some seem to shout their opinions from the rooftops while others hold onto to theirs quietly. Right, wrong or indifferent really doesn’t matter. The point is, people know what they like and they know what they want and Kimber has paid attention.

If you haven’t seen one already, I’d love to introduce you to the Kimber Aegis Elite Pro OI (optic included). This one handgun truly melts together different spectrums of the handgun shooting population making it a great fit for different types of shooters.
Defensively Minded
From a defensive handgun view, this gun fits the bill. More and more people are choosing a red dot style optic on their for personal protection handguns. The addition of the optic allows them quick sight acquisition to get on target quickly and easily. Kimber has milled the slide and included a Vortex Venom Red Dot Optic. The reticle is 6 MOA, which is a little larger than most enabling the shooter to acquire the sight quickly. There is also an option to forgo the red dot and have fiber optic sights instead. The red dot optic with aluminum trigger breaking at just 4.5 lbs. and you have a fast and accurate platform.
With a barrel of 4″ and coming in at about 35 oz. the Aegis Elite Pro can easily be carried concealed. The Aegis I received is chambered in 9mm. However, you can also get it in 45 ACP if you have that preference. Boasting G10 grips with 24 LPI front strap checkering and a stainless steel rounded heeled frame, getting more flesh on this gun is no problem. A comfortable grip that has a good fit is a definite factor when it comes to control. As a wise mentor once told me, “you run the gun, the gun does not run you”. The Aegis is undoubtedly a strong defensive handgun all on its own. When you can run the gun and control it, you become one and quite a force to be reckoned with. All of these features and more make the Aegis Elite Pro a good defensive handgun choice for personal carry or as a home defense gun, or both if you choose.

Beautiful
Yes, the Aegis Elite Pro has a sexy beauty all its own. Kimber is not one to ever leave out attention to detail, nor ignore the importance of uniqueness. Instead, it has a strong and bold beauty that is absolutely eye-catching. One of my favorite attributes is the matte black slide that features Kimber’s new AEX serrations. The G10 grips have an intricate design and texture. I can’t help myself from just running my fingers along the grips of this gun while noticing how the green, black and gray color pattern really captures the eye. The rounded heel, satin silver frame is a wonderful addition to the Aegis. Obviously beautiful but it also gives you a very comfortable feel and will prevent any unnecessary snagging on clothing while trying to conceal it.
One of the many things I admire in Kimber is that their guns are ready to go right out of the box. No need to replace the trigger or do any of the other modifications some gun owners have been accustomed to. This applies to the Aegis as well.
Range time with this gun was a complete joy. I ran varying types of ammo from inexpensive to higher end and the performance was flawless. I utilized the Aegis with no mercy. It was able to function in every drill, with any ammo, every time. I did not experience any type of malfunction the entire time I ran it. And, I can assure you the Aegis and I had far more than just one range day together.

The Aegis Elite Pro is the perfect combination of sexy and defensively efficient. As stated earlier, whether you are defensively minded, personal or home protection, recreationally target shooting or a combination of all three, this gun is a good fit for all of those. Kimber has done a phenomenal job incorporating the best of an array of desires and wants into one gun. The Aegis is also decently priced. With an MSRP of around $1,395.00, and remember that Vortex Venom red dot optic is included, this is an obtainable gun and a worthwhile investment.
I would encourage you to check it out. Not just look at it, but actually hold and fire the Aegis. There is so much more one can learn about a specific gun from actually, firing and becoming one with that gun. That may sound a bit dramatic but it really is true. When we shoot, everything from our stance to our breathing is important with the goal to be relaxed yet in control. To be focused but not overthink. If we are so in tune with a firearm that we feel as though we are one with that firearm I believe that is when it all comes together and allows our true shooting potential to shine through. I can’t think of a better gun to align with than the Aegis Elite Pro.
