Over 100 elk found dead in northern New Mexico

Over 100 Elk were found dead on a New Mexico ranch about 20 miles north of Las Vegas (no, not the one with the casinos).

Game and fish investigators were left baffled by the mysterious mass die-off. There were no bullet wounds or other indicators of mass slaughter.

Authorities suspect an insect borne illness that could rapidly spread and decimate a herd within a period of a few days.
