Ruger GP100 Revolver 357 Magnum – Sootch00 Review

The Ruger GP100 Double-Action Revolver is among the most comfortable and robust shooting revolvers on the market. Ruger wanted something that would withstand high-pressure rounds, so they built this firearm like a tank. You can shoot any .357 magnum in this handgun.

The Ruger GP100 got its inspiration from the Ruger Red Hawkes. The Ruger Red Hawkes and the Super Red Hawkes are built like tanks and this design came to the GP100. This pistol comes in 3”, 4”, and 6” models. The 6” model will give you more velocity and allow you to shoot longer ranges.

The grip frame design can easily accommodate a wide variety of custom grips. The Hogue grips do a great job of absorbing the recoil in high-pressure loads.

One of the beautiful things about the Ruger is that it gives you the best of both worlds with its trigger action. With the Ruger GP100 you can shoot this as a single or double-action revolver. With this particular double-action revolver, it is long and typically heavy. It is very short and easy to get more on target when you pull it back for a single action. You do not have to go through that long shot.

The triple-locking cylinder is locked into the front, rear, and bottom frame for more positive alignment and dependable operation shot after shot.

This gun is not a light firearm, but it is comforting with the caliber and capabilities that it has. Because this gun is so heavy, it is not ideal for concealed carry.
