A dragonfly experiences its whole life ten times faster and than a human being. It also sees in twelve different color wavelengths where the human eye sees in only three. The engineers behind the “In The Eyes Of Animal” virtual reality film used LIDAR, CT scanning, photogrammetry, a proprietary form of full 360-degree aerial photography, and spacial audio recording to map a dragonfly’s view of its native habitat. Then, they mapped the whole experience into a virtual reality space with a custom helmet and binaural audio playback to complete the illusion. The whole thing is astounding even just on video.
