Sig P365 in 380 ACP Sootch00 Review

When Sig introduced their P365, it was definitely a game changer. You hear those names thrown around a lot, but it really led a revolution for these micro sub-compacts with double stack magazines. They are very small, capable firearms with 10 plus one in the magazine—and you can get extended magazines as well. Now SIG has introduced their P365 in 380 ACP. This is a double stack, .380 ACP pistol, which is very similar in size to the Sig 9mm, but it’s lighter and it is a little bit smaller. Now we want to thank Nate over at GunZoneDeals for sending the P365 in 380 and for helping us out.

The Sig P365 in 380 is something that kind of surprised me, but when Ruger came out with their LCP Max, I figured that some other companies would come out with these micro 9s in 380 ACP. But the LCP is definitely a very small pistol, a lot smaller than the Sig, and it’s actually the exact same size as the 9mm. In fact, it weighs a little bit less, but as far as the dimensions from side to side, the silhouette, they are super close.

One of the big things about 380 ACP is that it is very soft to shoot. If you’re recoil sensitive, or you want to really be able to get those shots on target, 380 ACP is a great round to go with. 9mm is a very effective self-defense round that is more effective than 380, but 380 is still considered an effective self-defense caliber.

I don’t know that I’ve enjoyed taking a firearm to the range in the past couple of years as much as I have this pistol—the P365 in 380. It’s very soft shooting, almost surprisingly so. It’s the same size pretty much as your 9mm, but it’s a little bit lighter, it’s a little bit smaller—and it shoots super flat. I mean, just being able to get those repeat shots right on target is easy. But on the other hand, it has all the same controls and all the feel as the original P365, which has been extremely popular. To me a 380 ACP in this configuration would be a great choice. One of the things about the P365 in 380, it’s not much different than the standard 9mm. So for size, there’s not really a lot of advantages with the 380, but with shootability, there’s a lot of advantages—especially if you have someone in your life that needs something that just has that lower recoil, and yet can be an effective self-defense round.
