Strange scorpion colony in the UK is now the world’s largest

Scorpions are not very common sight in the United Kingdom. But on one 50 meter stretch of wall located in an industrial port in Kent has become a massive colony for one breed of small scorpion with some interesting features. Biologists believe this particular breed of yellow tailed scorpion immigrated to the small port town some 250 years ago on a cargo ship, most likely hauling large quantities of fruit, and took up residence on the brick wall shortly thereafter. The tiny scorpions aren’t lethal to humans and only need to eat seasonally, but like most other scorpions, they glow a brilliant blue-green under UV light. Otherwise, they’re nearly invisible which is exactly what has made them so successful, and all on one tiny brick wall in a shipyard.
