These icefishers caught a lake trout so large it wouldn’t fit through their fishing hole!

Out on Lake Superior during the winter months, northern fisherman scramble for their spot out the ice and crowd around the holes they route through it to fish. Iceholes generally aren’t cut very large because you don’t want to fall through them, or risk widening them by accident, and the fish are usually small enough to fit through when you’ve hooked one. But not this 40 centimeter monster lake trout. After much struggling, they pull the behemoth from the ice, and after a few photos, they let him go.
