How did this escaped chimp not get shocked to a crisp on these power lines?

When this male chimpanzee escaped a northern Japanese zoo earlier this week, he put city officials through one electric, high-wire act. Turns out this high-flying primate avoided a high-voltage jolt by being very lucky with its choice of hand- and foot-holds. Had the pole been made of metal rather than would, the resulting arc would’ve electrocuted him to death.
