A wildfire broke out near Grantsdale Elementary in Montana, around 2:30PM. By 5PM local time, it was estimated that the fire had consumed about 500 acres of land in its wake, but around 10PM that evening, officials battling the fire said that acreage had increased to nearly TWO THOUSAND. By the next morning, the fire had destroyed over 3500 acres and was increasing in spread and intensity at a rate of over 250 acres per hour. Over 20 homes had to be evacuated and tons of local livestock were killed in the blaze.
