Does your team work together efficiently when clearing a building? Watch this training team as they enter a small school annex building in search of hostages who may be held there by armed attackers.
They establish and maintain momentum from the point of entry onward. Without delay or compromising themselves by excessive talk, they communicate the essentials, verbally, quietly, and in plain English.
They clear the first, small room from the outside before making quick, decisive entry to clear the terminal angle. They move on, smoothly but quickly down the hall, and given their brief on the presence of armed hostiles, when the first individual encountered fails to comply with a command to drop his contact weapon, they do not hesitate to shoot before he can close the distance.
The team moves on, negotiates a four-way hallway intersection, identifies and communicates the next problem (an open door on the left), and after taking fire from within the room, pies the room from the hallway without delay, identifies the terminal angle which must contain the adversary, and enters swiftly and aggressively.
The second team member does not over-penetrate, and clears his area of responsibility (the remaining terminal angle) before turning to assist his #1 who has already engaged the adversary from his position of deep penetration into the room. This is a “textbook” run.
