A couple was celebrating their joint birthday party on a fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico when the husband saw something strange. At first he assumed it was a small buoy, but it was moving toward their boat. As he looked closer he saw it was a small dog in a life vest struggling in the open water. After pulling the exhausted pooch onboard, the couple contacted the Coast Guard. They discovered that the dog had been reported falling overboard just 3 hours earlier. After they came ashore, the rescuers were able to reunite the lucky dog with his owner who was sure he’d lost his best friend forever.
