Light is your number one security tool and having a good flashlight is important in security. It is important to be able to see things in the dark and illuminate the dark. A lot of times I’ve ended up carrying a small little flashlight, like this S10R Baton from Olight and I really like these really small lights in my pocket – plus the lumen counts can be really high.
Olight introduced their Warrior Mini and this little light is a 1500 lumen light. One of the things that the Warrior Mini gives me is an option for a self defense tool. This light extends past my hand and although at first I thought I wouldn’t like carrying it because it’s a fairly large light, now I love it and it fits right in my pocket. You really can carry these about anywhere and it does give you some sort of self defense option. Now, Olight has introduced their Warrior Mini 2 and it’s addressed a few issues with the Warrior Mini and it’s up the lumens from 1500 to 1750 lumens, which is one of the things that really makes a big difference. Having a good light for your self defense option is just as important as being able to illuminate the dark. We really appreciate Olight for sending the Warrior Mini 2 for this review and you get a 10% discount using Sootch00.
I’ve said before that I’m a big fan of the Warrior Mini so the Warrior Mini 2 is just an upgrade. To be honest with you, I was pretty satisfied with the Warrior Mini until I took the new light outside. The intensity of the 1750 lumens over the 1500 is incredibly brighter than the standard Warrior mini. That’s 12,300 Candela and so we start out with 1750 lumens and it goes down to 500 lumens down to 120, down to 15, and then at the moonlight setting. You have a tail switch at the back that does 500 and then you can go straight to your turbo setting which is 1750 lumens.
One of the things they’ve added to the new Warrior Mini 2 is a proximity sensor. One of the problems with the original Warrior Mini is that it could come on in your pocket as it had a magnetic tail switch and so anything that would connect with this could actually turn the light on.
The Warrior Mini 2 is a 220 meter beam distance which is something we are going to test out. However, it’s not a pinpoint beam which I like. I like it to be a little bit diffused so I can see a big general area. Now on the lowest setting, which is 1 lumen, it can run for 45 days – making it a really efficient battery.
Now let’s look at the battle scarred Warrior Mini 2. It’s up to the task and you can see that it is scuffed up. We had two small issues. One: the clip came off a couple of times. Two: one time when I was rolling it over with the Hummer, the light actually turned off but it turned right back on. Overall, it’s just a solid light. We had done the same test with the Warrior Mini and you can see it’s really beat up. These lights are capable of going through a lot and they’re just tough lights. That’s one of the reasons why I carry these every day for my EDC and I have been carrying Olight for over 10 years.
On another note, I just wanted to relate a personal story that happened to me one night after I was doing a lot of light demonstrations outside and doing the torture test. I was walking back to my house and it was pretty late. In fact, it was about two in the morning. Right when I got to my garage, a loud noise happened behind the house and it sounded like something fell. I pulled my Warrior Mini 2 out and it just brightened up the area and as I walked around I had a lot of confidence because I could really see the whole area behind my house. Having a really high lumen flashlight that’s capable and able to use if you need to for a security tool, non-lethal defense option just makes this a great little package – and it’s the reason why I’ve been carrying them. Of course, I had my SIG P365 on me as well.
These lights run at $89 on the Olight store website. You do receive the lanyard, the carabiner, the lanyard clip, and also batteries included. If you’ve never had a good quality flashlight, keep in mind that light is your number one security tool. You really need a good quality flashlight that’s dependable and the Olight Warrior Mini can go to hell and back. With 1750 lumens, it has that longer link to give you a self defense, non-lethal option that you can carry anywhere. If you’re looking for that one light, Olight can give you all those options. To me, the Warrior Mini 2 is the best thing out on the market.
